He Made The Yankee Hat More Famous Than a Yankee Can...

That's a line from Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys "Empire State of Mind."
The New York Yankees have used this as their opening song since the release of Blueprint 3. Jay-Z declined after being asked to allow this to be the "official Yankees" song. Not understanding that Shawn Carter but okay.

Here's a pic of Beyonce's husband at a recent game sitting beside actress Kate Hudson having a merry old time.

However, he and Alicia Keys agreed to perform the song at the opening of Game 1 of World Series on this  Wednesday night. Afterwards, Ms. Keys will peform the National Anthem.

The NY Yankees will face the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:30 P.M. EST.

Speedy Recovery

Brad Pitt is okay after a small motorcycle accident on Saturday. Apprently, he was trying to evade the paparazzi  and slipped from his motorcycle. The above picture was taken minutes before the "mishap" and here is a still picture after from Fox News

Since the Balloon Boy ordeal, I'm not buying much of anything these days. Brad, you need more people.

Video Shoot...Steamy Much?

Here are pics from the video shoot of 50's new song "Baby By Me" featuring NeYo.

In an interview 50 says:
“I had to find the right person to be my love interest in the music video. I found Kelly. It matches perfectly. The acting in the project is great. I think when people see it, they are gonna be surprised by it.”

The jury is still out on this one.

The Bronzer of ALL Bronzers

If you are like me, wearing foundation and makeup on a daily basis can be time consuming. About two years ago I found a bronzer that saved my life.

Ladies (and some of you gents), I present to you "The Bronzer Poudre de Soleil" by Tom Ford for Estee Lauder.

Now like you, I wondered how did Mr. Ford find the time to step away from designing at Gucci and his various other projects to devote to Estee Lauder. I wear it DAILY and receive many compliments. It's light and matches perfect with any skin tone and the compact is twice as large as a regular size compact. I am unsure if it's still in production because at the time I found it, I actually purchased three. Check with retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Saks 5th Avenue. If it's no longer produced, shoot me an email and I will be leading a riot.

Tune In

Tune in to BET on Tuesday night for the airing of the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Many people who attended stated that because of modern technology like Twitter and Facebook, some of the winners were not announced during the taping. It will be interesting to see how these awards will be given and accepted.

After the awards, singer Monica will debut her reality show, "Still Standing."

The show will chronicle Monica's venture into recording her fifth studio album, dealing with motherhood, and staying grounded in her faith. In a radio interview with AJC writer Rodney Ho, Monica says:

I think it gives people an in-depth look how hard it is to stay relevant in the music business and balancing family life,” she said in a phone interview last week. “A lot of people aren’t comfortable baring their souls. I am. I’m a work in progress. I’m going through things every day just like everybody else.

The show is produced by James Dubose who is also behind "Keyshia Cole: The Way It is," "Frankie and Neffie," and "Tiny and Toya."

11th Most Powerful Woman In The World

Ladies and gents, I introduce to you. President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner of Argentina

.A member of the Justicialist Party, she was a Senator for Buenos Aires Province prior to taking office. She is the wife of former President of Argentina Néstor Kirchner, and acted as First Lady during his term. In the October 2007 general election, Fernández ran for the presidency of Argentina, representing the ruling Front for Victory party. She won with 45.29% of the vote, a 22% lead over her nearest rival. This was one of the widest margins obtained by a candidate since democracy returned in 1983, and it avoided the need for a runoff election.

Congratulations to President Fernández and her success!

Here is a picture of President Fernandez visiting the White House for a dinner a couple of months ago.

Urban Legends: Alpo and Rich

Azie "AZ" Fasion "Alpo" and Rich Porter are urban legends in New York. AZ wrote a story based on their lives and “Roc-A-Fella” films licensed the rights and brought the story to the screen, titled, “Paid In Full,” which was released in 2002 starring Mekhi Phifer and Wood Harris. These teenagers, (16 and 17 years old) ran the most sophisticated drug ring on the East Coast in the 1980’s. They were major players in the New York drug trade. They were the first drug crew in the United States to use beepers to communicate and at the tender age of 17, Alpo became the first black man in this country to own a Lamborghini sports car. Meanwhile, AZ and Rich housed their luxury cars (Porsches, Mercedes’, BMW’s and Ferrari’s) in a big warehouse in New York City. This trio was flamboyant and ruthless and made millions of dollars but their lifestyle would lead to kidnapping, betrayal and death. Rich Porter’s little brother was kidnapped by a biological uncle and held for ransom. The uncle cut off his nephew’s finger to show he meant business. The uncle would eventually have the boy killed. AZ got shot several times by a disgruntled street soldier but he would survive. Rich Porter would be double crossed and killed, allegedly by crew member Alpo, who is now serving time in prison. A documentary of this story is also available, “Game Over.”

7 Stars

Ladies and gentleman, I would like to introduce to you the

Burj Al Arab

It is the world's first and only 7-Star hotel. Although the traditional elite hotel is labeled as "five star", this hotel is a five star deluxe, hence the rating. Work commenced in 1994 when land reclamation began to form the island on which the hotel is built. The hotel itself took around three years to complete and opened in late 1999. It's the tallest building in the world used exclusively as a hotel and its elevators are among the fastest in the world.

So if you feel like splurging, take a look at where you will be staying. Enjoy!

Court Day!

Well while the mothers of his four children are carpooling and washing burping cloths, Lil Wayne (Government Name: Dwayne Carter), had to go and see a man about a dog today in Manhatten. He appeared in a courtroom, but DNA science took the center stage. It's was a hearing on a DNA profiling technique used in the rapper's 2007 gun-possession case. The hearing aims to establish whether what's known as low copy number DNA profiling has general scientific acceptance. It concerns a process used for identifying people from tiny amounts of DNA — including some that prosecutors say ties the Grammy Award-winner to a gun found on his tour bus after a concert. He has pleaded not guilty. He faces at least 3½ years in prison if convicted.

Good Luck with THAT!

Here are pictures of his arrival

Blind Item

Here is a blind item from Crazy Days and Nights. Can you guess who this is?

"Last week, I told you about the actress who was bulimic. Well, guess what. It turns out that bulimia is not limited to actresses. How can I describe this person without giving it all away? The problem is that he does everything in the business. Singer. Actor. Even more actually. While not A list at any of them, he definitely has B+/A- name recognition. You might not put the face with the name, but when you hear the name, you will have heard of him. That is a really long description, but a blind item like this deserves a nice build up.

This weekend our actor was at Katsuya. He goes there frequently, although this was only the second time our spy saw him. Our actor ordered 2 orders of the rock shrimp tempura. Here is where it gets interesting, and a little wasteful if you ask me.  Our actor chews the shrimp, but never actually swallows them. Instead he chews them, and then spits them out into a cup. He is a nice guy though. The first time he did this there, he went to the back of the place and washed his own cup.  Anyway, this time while he was there performing his ritual, he accidentally swallowed some of the shrimp, and immediately ran for the bathroom where he stayed for the next 20 minutes. He then returned to his seat and started chewing and spitting again."

For A Cause

Charity and supporting a cause is the "new black." If you haven't found a cause or charity to support, create your own! It only takes one person to make a difference.
Denise Rich recenty hosted her annual Angel Ball to benefit cancer research. For those of who you who don't know, Ms. Rich is an esteemed songwriter, Grammy nominee, and philanthropist. She's written songs for artists such as Marc Anthony, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Jessica Simpson, and Celine Dion. She is also a friend of Hillary and Bill Clinton.

Here is an excerpt from the Wall Street Journal regarding the event and photographs from the Red Carpet
At Cipriani’s on Wall Street, deep-pocketed partygoers, including Jennifer Hudson, “Gossip Girl” couple Blake Lively and Penn Badgely, Howard Stern and evening performers Robin Thicke and Estelle, turned out in overwhelming force for Denise Rich’s annual Angel Ball .

Robin Thicke and wife Paula
Created in 1996, the charity honors Rich’s daughter Gabrielle, who died from acute myelogenous leukemia at age 27 in 1997 (Denise is the ex-wife of pardoned billionaire and former fugitive Marc Rich). The event — which raised close to $4 million and for which heavy hitters paid up to $100,000 a table to attend — was reminiscent of 1980s charity events, where opulence was de rigueur. Heavily bejeweled ladies from the New York, Palm Beach, and St. Tropez circuit and other guests were greeted by glitzy decor (towering place settings of lavender and pink roses) and were encouraged to bid in the silent auction (items ranged from a mammoth $44,000 orange Hermes crocodile Birkin bag to a priceless $1,500 chance to meet model Bar Rafaeli). They were also gifted with treasure-filled goodie bags heaped with freebies, including Marc Jacobs’ fragrance Daisy and a collagen face pad.

Drumming Up Publicity

If you live in the New York area, tune in tommorrow to Hot 97 at 3 PM EST. If you do not live in the area, go to Hot97.com to listen to Chris Brown's first interview since the assualt incident. He will be interviewed by long time radio personality Angie Martinez.

We say first because the Larry King debacle was a waste of time. Hope Chris is able to open up more in the next interview and be a little bit more honest.

Chris has a new single out "I Can Transform Ya" feat. Lil Wayne.  It's not the best but we will let Chris' fans be the judge of that.

The above pic (from JustJared.com) is from the set of the new video. Chris is slated to launch a one month "fan appreciation" tour. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a Los Angeles domestic violence intervention charity called the Jenesse Center, and an organization providing friendships and jobs for people with developmental disabilities called Best Buddies International.

Kurt Cobain: Conspiracy?

Kurt Cobain was a guitarist and lead singer of the rock band Nirvana. Kurt was the front man for the grundge era and the band quickly made a name for itself. This form of alternative rock became popular and paved the way for bands such as Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. It was said that Cobain was uncomfortable with the attention and placed his focus on the band's music, believing the band's message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public, challenging the band's audience with its third studio album In Utero in 1993. Kurt struggled with drug additional the last yeas of his life and death with personal pressure with his wife, musician Courtney Love. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. A suicide note was found that said, in part:

"I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing . . . for too many years now".

A high concentration of heroin and traces of Valium were also found in his body. Cobain's body had been lying there for days; the coroner's report estimated Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994. The circumstances of his death have become a topic of fascination and debate. Take a look at this YouTube video which introduces a conspiracy that Kurt Cobain did not commit suicide: it implicates and that he actually was murdered. There are three parts and you will be able to find the remaining on the YouTube website.

Fashion Guru

You cannot discuss style or fashion without mentioning June Ambrose. In the image-obsessed world of music, who do the hottest artists call for a total fashion re-haul?  She has a career spanning over a decade, and a clientele which several icons such as Jay-Z and Mariah Carey

June Ambrose is the reigning queen of the trade. She says,

"Studying fashion was a privilege I did not have. My family emigrated from Antigua thirty years ago. There was no FIT, only books on costume-design—and I read them all!"

Ambrose began as an internt at MCA Records when the industry was a blank canvas and no one was styling celebrities. June started her company Mod Squad in 1994, completely self-managed. She's worked on more than 150 vidoes and had the most nominated, one year, in the history of any stylist at the MTV Awards. June likes to refer to her company as a total creative service.

"It's brand imaging---discovering the artist's alter ego and building a lifestyle around it—the sheets, the fragrance, the luggage.”

Some of your favorite videos such as "Show Em What You Got" (Jay-Z), "More Money More Problems (Diddy), "Stand the Rain" (Missy Elliot), and "So Sick" (NeYo). She has also acted as the set stylist for "Live with Regis and Kelly."

Be sure to also get a copy of her book, Effortless Style, in which she gives fashion advice on how you can achieve star power.

Introducing....Eva Kennedy

Eva Kennedy is an AMAZING singer and entertainer. She has one of the strongest voices I've heard in a long time. If you live in Atlanta, or you happen to visit and you want to go somewhere for good food and music, try "Cafe Circa."

Located on Edgewood Avenue, "Cafe Circa" is a "sheek and swanky" place that most do not discover because it's somewhat hidden. The menu is minimal but has some of the best Carribean Latin cuisine and its boasts one of the most eccentric wine and specialty drink lists.

Eva performs every Friday and Saturday night there. Be sure to check her out!

Bold Lips, Presidential Two Step, 1 Ounce for How Much?.... and Much More

In the Fall, not only do you ponder a new wardrobe and fashion trends. Makeup is also essential in completing your fall look. Since the introduction of the “nude” lip, most of us have played it safe but many celebs and makeup artists are bringing bold, dark, and smoldering colors this season. Dark Reds, Browns, and Plums are finding their way back to many cosmetic stands. These shades are fun because because colors with lots of pigment sort of change with the lighting. Why not be bold this fall?

In other news....

Mike Tyson recently was interviewed on Oprah and discussed some of the best and some of the most difficult times in his life. A week later, his once rival, Evander Holyfield, joined him on the show. Oprah did an amazing job in capturing Mike's life from his own personal view which was quite different then what we saw.

A little known fact about Mike: Before he went broke, he tore down a few of the walls in his mansion to make room for a rotating display that featured a rare Lamborghini. When Tyson had guests over, the circular display would rotate as people admired the car.

On to the White House.....

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony brought their twin daughter Emme, 19 months, along to the White House, where the parents participated in a Latin music concert – the latest in Michelle Obama's music series . This series is to air on PBS and Telemundo this month.

Here's some video footage of our President showing off his two step (or mamba...I dunno)

There was a lot of fuss around about a video with President Obama dancing with Latin popstar. By only viewing a video some drew an absurd conclusion that Mrs. O was not happy with the President after this. Don't believe the hype. I'm sure she is 100% secure in their relationship.

Congrats!

To Bethenny of Real Housewives of New York. She is expecting her first child and is engaged. Her beau is unknown at this time but I will keep you posted.

The Glamorous Life

What do female CEO’s, billionaires, heiresses, royalty, and celebrities have in common? They indulge in only the best when it comes to beauty, example: The most expensive perfume (in the world, is “Clive Christian No. 1” This not advertised in mainstream media and costs approximately $2200 per ounce.

Author Kanisha Wilson just published her very first book, "Portraits of the Heart." This book is filled with poetry and photography that will be sure to capture you. The book will be in stores November 14th, but if you cannot wait, you can order it from PublishAmerica.net.

Did You Know?

Who remembers the group “Intro?" This was a popular 90's R&B group. The lead singer, Kenny "G-Love," Greene (pictured in the center) was a talented writer. He not only wrote for his group but other artists as well. Kenny's writing and arranging was so critically lauded that he and Dave Jam Hall (you know the guy who actually produced Mary J Blige's What's The 411? and much of Madonna's Bedtime Stories) tied with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year in 1993. If you don't believe he is great you know Mary J. Blige's Reminisce and Love No Limit? Yep, Kenny Greene wrote them.
Unfortunately, Kenny died from AIDS complications in 2001. Kenny did a candid interview in July of 2001 on his sick bed. In the interview, he discussed the lifestyle he led as an entertainer. He also wanted  to contribute to the open dialogue about AIDS, prevention, and awareness.
